The unveiling of the newest section of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath’s will usher in the beginning of Akron Bike Week, an event quickly becoming a new city tradition.

The event was created to provide Akron bike enthusiasts with a full week of bike related activities and to highlight the benefits of biking as a part of an everyday lifestyle.

All bikers from Akron and its surrounding communities are invited to participate in the event, which includes a full moon bike ride, scavenger hunts, bike-to-work days, bicycle maintenance workshops, and various organized rides for both beginners and experts.

The new section of the Towpath includes a unique floating bridge and a floating observation deck that spans over 1,000 feet of water. The new path will be dedicated on Friday, September 4 at which time it will be open to the public.
