The Gothic Building
The Gothic Building is four-story structure was built in 1903 in Chicago style architecture. It has many features of interest including an atrium, which was essentially a precursor to the green movement. The center light well lets in natural light and reduces operating expenses, making it a healthy, efficient working environment. The Gothic was slated for demolition, but renovations have saved it and today it accommodates a variety of professionals who want to live near Akron’s busy legal district. The Gothic Building is located directly across from the convention center and is part of the "legal loop" via the skywalk system that connects directly to the municipal state courthouses located on High Street.
